Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal's Samir Nasri still has a 'very good attitude' despite speculation surrounding his future

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has saluted Samir Nasri's attitude despite intense transfer speculation suggesting his future may lie away from the Emirates.

Nasri only has a year left on his contract at the club, prompting Manchester rivals City and United to show an interest in the Frenchman.

The 24-year-old has hinted that he may be interested in a move away from the Emirates to fulfil his ambition of winning silverware, but played in the Gunners' 4-0 win over a Malaysia XI on Wednesday, with Wenger insisting that Nasri is still fully focused.

"He has always had a very good attitude," Wenger said.

"We are a big club with many good young players so we are confronted with many rumors and speculation. But it doesn't affect much what's happening inside the club. We have to live with that and you could see when he [Samir] played that he wasn't disturbed by that."

Despite the prospect of potentially losing one of his star players for nothing next summer, Wenger is also confident that the club’s board will back his decision to keep Nasri.

He added: "I think so, I believe that is no problem. It is a technical decision. On one hand people say I don't spend enough and when I spend people say I spend too much. It's very difficult to find the right medium."

"What is important is that the club has a good team and is in a strong financial situation. The decisions are dictated by financial restrictions but not only by that. The most important thing is that the team is right and our financial situation is right as well."

On Nasri, Wenger continued: "I believe that everybody who loves Arsenal wants all our strong players to stay at the club."

‘He has qualities like Theo Walcott, they have good movement’ – Arsene Wenger lauds new Arsenal signing Gervinho

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking forward to Gervinho linking up with the club, and believes the player can make a "great contribution" to the squad.

The Ivory Coast international completed a move to the Emirates from Lille, but has not joined the club's preseason tour of Asia. Nonetheless, the Gunners boss is confident that the former Ligue 1 star can enhance his forward line in coming season.

"He has qualities that are interesting," Wenger told the club's official website. "He has good movement off the ball, he is very quick. He can play up front, on the left or on the right.

"He can score goals, can provide and had the best assists in the French league last year. I think he can be a great contribution to the offensive efficiency of the team."

The 24-year-old has stayed behind in London to work on his fitness, whilst his new teammates are in Asia as part of Arsenal's preseason build up.

And Wenger believes that he has already got a player who is similar in style and play as Gervinho, and that man is Theo Walcott.

The Frenchman has drawn on comparisons with the England international, and is looking forward to having the pair of them in his squad.

He added: "He has qualities like Theo Walcott, they have good movement.

"I think Theo can play on the left, right and up front. He has a similar type of pace and finishing."

The Ivory Coast international was part of the Lille squad that won the French League and Cup double last season.

Sanusi's Islamic Bank: Bishops Ask Lawmakers To Block It

Bishops of the Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion have urged the Senate and Federal House of Representatives not to pass any bill that would make the proposed Islamic bank to see the light of the day.

The Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma who disclosed this to newsmen in Enugu also warned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to approve the establishment of the bank, insisting that the emergence of a religious bank would pose serious threat to the unity of the country.

Dr. Chukwuma, the bishops and the Primate of the Anglican Church, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, had rejected Islamic bank after their meeting recently, saying that they did so because of its “religious connotation.”

The bishops also argued that the CBN was not constitutionally empowered to establish an Islamic bank, pointing out that the bank would contravene the CBN Act.
Bishop Chukwuma disclosed that the Anglican Church would embark on a protest if the apex bank ignores its position on the issue, warning that they would equally pass a vote of no confidence on CBN if it approves the bank.

He insisted that there was no need to establish an Islamic bank in a multi-religious country like Nigeria, saying that the coming of the bank would only cause confusion in the country.
“Nigeria is not an Islamic country. Islamic bank is unconstitutional because it is not in the CBN Act. We reject the establishment of the bank. It has religious connotation. The Senate and House of Representatives should not pass the bill,” he said.
